Research units

IET promotes cross-wise, multidisciplinary research, through the research units that embody it.

The Centre d’Estudis Sociològics sobre la Vida Quotidiana i el Treball (QUIT) – QUIT, was established in 1991, and in 2003 is recognized as a CER (Centro de Estudios e Investigación, Center for Studies and Research). It’s a recognized and consolidated SGR Group (2017SGR01473) since 1996. Its main research lines include the analysis of social times and adaptation of personal times, transformation of work, the working market and working relationships, the career paths of groups in a situation of inequality, the consideration around policies related to balancing productive and reproductive works and policies referred to it, and the analysis of gender inequalities and its effect on work and everyday life.

The Research Group on Spanish and Foreign Workers (Derechos de los Trabajadores Españoles y Extranjeros – DRELATES) was recognized as a SGR by the Catalonian Government in 2009. Nowadays it’s been recognized as a consolidated SGR by the Catalan Government since 2014 (2014 SGR 264). In the last few years, research developed by the group focused on issues like the law framework of employment for disabled people and people with risk of social exclusion, the participation of public administration and workers’ representatives in the processes of company reorganizations, the corporate social responsibility, the legal framework of job market for aging workers and the study of the permanent law reforms regarding to Working Rights and Social Security.

Research group on psychosocial risks, organization of work and health (POWAH) is a multidisciplinary group formed by professionals from epidemiology, sociology, biostatistics and economics from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with permanent links with trade unions and other research groups in the field of health and social sciences. Recognized as an emerging group by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 2017 (2017 SGR 958), the year in which it was formally constituted, its research interests pivot mainly on the study of the relationship between exposure to psychosocial occupational risks and its origin (work organization), as well as its effect on the health of workers.
